Welcome to Bluebell!

An inclusive and community-based summer day camp for school aged children with neurodiversities

Understanding

Neurodiversity

Founded and staffed by passionate educators and Inclusive Education Support Workers in the Surrey School District, Camp Bluebell’s core philosophy celebrates the individuality of all learners. Understanding, celebrating and supporting neurodiversity is at the core of our mission, as we recognize the beauty and strength that each camper brings to our community. With open hearts and minds, we navigate the intricate tapestry of neurological differences, fostering an inclusive space where each child is valued for their distinct abilities and perspectives. Our commitment to empathy and understanding allows us to tailor our approach to each child’s needs, ensuring a summer camp experience that is both enriching and deeply respectful of the inherent uniqueness that makes each child shine.

Located in beautiful Cloverdale, BC, Camp Bluebell offers a haven for children seeking a summer of joy, growth, and connection. Our specialized camp caters to the vibrant and diverse communities of Surrey and Langley, providing a safe and inclusive space where our campers can learn and build meaningful connections through exploration and play. At Bluebell, we strive to foster a sense of belonging and adventure, making each summer a memorable experience for the children in our community.

Camp Bluebell moves beyond the traditional summer camp experience by placing a strong emphasis on learning and development. Each activity is intentionally designed with a focus on skill-building to set our campers up for success both in and outside of school. Through engaging activities and personalized support from skilled Inclusive Educational Support Workers, we nurture a love for learning that extends beyond the summer, laying the foundation for academic success and personal growth.

Place-Based Learning

We respectfully and gratefully acknowledge that Camp Bluebell operates on the traditional and unceded territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen and other Coast Salish Peoples. As outlined in the First Peoples Principles of Learning, we believe that “learning is holistic, reflexive, reflective, experiential, and relational (focused on connectedness, on reciprocal relationships, and a sense of place).” We strive to reflect this value throughout our programming which is centered on respect for and engagement with the land on which we live, learn and play.

Staff Experience & Training

Camp Bluebell is staffed by educators from the Surrey and Langley School Districts, all with a shared passion for creating inclusive and supportive learning environments that support all children. Our team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in various specializations, including school administration, classroom teaching, and Inclusive Education Support Work. As educators, we understand the importance of child-centered learning that is fun and meaningful for all, and our program is carefully designed to reflect this philosophy. Camp Bluebell is more than a traditional summer camp; it is an educational adventure created by educators who are deeply invested in facilitating both academic growth and joyous memories for each child in our care.
